ON THE ROAD AGAIN

As Wille so aptly said it....
"On the road again,
Just can't wait to get on the road again
like a band of gypsies we go down the highway
We're the best of friends
insisting that the world keep turning our way
AND WE CAN'T WAIT TO GET ON THE ROAD AGAIN"
ROAD TRIP- a journey via automobile

I guess driving the 22,500 miles to the Arctic Ocean last summer wasn't enough. So after overpacking the SUV again we are off and running to celebrate the open road. This year we are headed to the Eastern half of the good ol'USA on up to St. Edwards Island and Newfoundland. More family, friends, Fishers, faith and forests. Will we qualify as Professional Road Trippers? Is this the Baby Boomer version of hitchhiking? Does Dashboarding count as exercise? So glad I can pack the "extras" and not pay "extra" and so love not having to stand in line to take off my shoes to change states. Besides it's an excellent way to shed some skin and live out loud. Check out the schedule and see if you're on the trip tick. Our most valuable souvenir are the hugs and stories we can't wait to share. Look over at the archived blogs on the right side as it stores the "older" blog entries there....don't want you to miss the trip from day one!

CONFIRMED ROADIES

After last summers "once in a life time road trip" we were hooked-if bored one evening see pamelacollins.blogspot.com (North to Alaska) for sordid details. There are plenty of reasons to hit the road and celebrate America's (and Canada too!) cultural heritage and natural wonders. Although we haven't experienced the meandering version-our trip is kinda planned and suits our purpose. Our focus are the FIVE F'S (family, friends, fishers, faith, forests). With the blessing of health and time we are free to visit and experience our F's. We have also learned the way to a healthy life style on a long road trip....goal for this trip is to eat green and healthy- no more Bubba's Jerky and Corn Dogs. Bubba is even bringing his Vita Mixer. Nothing like a Slimey I mean green smoothie to start the day off. Pleep only indulges in the banana smoothies...no green for the Pleepmeister. And yes there has been a new addition to the Collins Road Family- Pleep now has a sister- Pleetisha (aka Sis). After he laid down the rules of the road to Sis and made it clear who is in charge of this rig she smiled sweetly and said "you bet Bro!" So come along for the ride- Happy Trails!

DAY 33 NEW BRUNSWICK CANADA....FUNDY NATIONAL PARK

SPILL THE WINE AND TAKE THAT GIRL
Spill the wine, Spill the wine, Spill the wine.....Pleep could not stop singing his version of that old tune driving us nutty all night.  I guess he didn't appreciate me trying to claim this mess was obviously all of Pleeps fault.  Border Bob gave me the eye roll and  made it very clear to keep tabs on that darn monkey as he also has quite the Canadian rep.  As part of our penance we had to keep him very visible...so off to shake off the boo boo of yesterday, we tromp out in the rain to

FUNDY NATIONAL PARK OR BIENVENUE AU PARC NATIONAL FUNDY!
All signs are in English and French giving Bubba a headache having to read both.  Oy.  This park was established in 1948 on 206 square kilometers and that is how many acres?  It hugs the Bay of Fundy showing us a sample of one of Canada's unique landscapes-the Maritime Acadian Highlands.  Rising abruptly from the sea, this rolling plateau is covered with lush forest with streams flowing fast through the valleys.            www.pc.gc.ca/eng/pn-np/fundy

Boca does the beach walk.  When the giant tide goes out, you never know what will be left behind.   She saw Titanic and was hoping for some long lost jewels.  They suggested I wear old sneakers or rubber boots.  Boca in rubber boots?  old "sneakers"?  No no no.  She wore her favorite Lesbian Loafers (ok lesbian friends calm down, you are right, you wouldn't be caught dead in them but hey I tried).  Bubba doesn't this count as the FUNDY CIRCUIT? No Boca, they meant hiking all of the trails.  Hmmph.

Covered Bridges?  All over Maine and now here.  What's up with that?  They accommodate a single lane of traffic and that is good?  They originated in Europe (Italy, Germany, Switzerland) and Pennsylvania has the most with over 200 covered bridges.  But Vermont and New Hampshire have more per square mile than any other place in the world. They are associated with the 19th Century, which translates into nostalgia for tourists and moola to the villages where they are located.  Looks like more Moose Myth to Boca.   The bridges were primarily wooden back then and only lasted 9 yrs however if they put a cover on the bridge it extended the life of the bridge to 80 years.  Maybe Boca should get one for herself?  Don't even bring up the sappy Bridges of Madison County.  Boca is more Beetle Juice!

EXPERIENCE THE TIDE OF FUNDY?  THE WHAT?

With tides that ebb and flow the full height of a 4 story building, it is truly one of the Marine wonders of the world.  Who knew?  The highest tides in the world happen twice a day- everyday.  You can leave your footprints on the ocean floor and return 6 hours later to find 100 BILLION tons of rising water have washed them away and transformed the coastline.  See ol'Boca down there next to the Flower Pot Rock.  I wanted to stay for the tide in but that pesky Park "Interpreter" (as least we call them Rangers) said no soap Boca-word is out about you.  Move along Missy.  In spite of the rainy damp day (it put my Palm Beach raincoat to the test- it flunked and Bubba reminded me to deep six the joke of a rain coat and head over to LL Bean- yeah, right, that's going to happen Bubba).  www.thehopewellrocks.ca

I loved the way the Tide In and Tide Out Madness worked for the fishing boats....ayia yia.  Pleep kept asking the fisherman what the trick was on having their boat land right on those crates...FUNDY SECRET Pleep.  Sorry.

No Moose or Whales.  Dang.  But the requisite sign for tourists reminding them to be careful...that moose may hop out in front of your car.  Yeah, whatever.  Boca is on to this Tourist Tactic- same deal in Maine.  And no Bubba no sea kayaking for me.  I already look like a drowned rat thanks to that "raincoat".  I think all this rain is part of the Border Punishment.  Grrrrrrr.

And to cap off the day....Border Patrol insisted Bubba drive around his cousin's truck  at no charge of course AND Boca had to help out cookin and crackin the lobsters all night.  But Border Bob WHAT ABOUT MY PINK AND WHITES?  HELLO.  WHO WILL FIX MY NAILS TOMORROW!!!

I GUESS THE ADAGE CRIME DOES NOT PAY IS TRUE...AT LEAST IN THIS CASE.....
